UK Airport DestinationsThe range of destinations served by UK airports has increased dramatically, along with the growth in low cost air travel in general. These destinations are typically divided into two categories, long haul and short haul. Most of the regional airports listed offer short haul services to the popular European holiday destinations and capital cities. Low cost carriers - such as Ryanair, Easyjet and Monarch - have proliferated in recent years and provide no frills, budget flights from popular regional airports such as Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool and East Midlands. The long haul operators such as Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, tend to operate out of the major London airports (Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted) and Manchester. These serve far flung destinations such as the United States, Asia and Australia. However, increasingly, long haul flights are becoming available from UK regional airports, for example Continental now offer flights to New York (Newark) from Bristol Airport. |
